The first step is forward on a ball over their head
They have to turn and chase. The read should have sent them back.
Outfield training in Bellerose, NY works routes to fly balls, reads off the bat, and throws that get back to the infield under control.

The hard part of the outfield is often the first step and the route, not the catch itself. Players from Queens and Nassau County book time for that read.
There is no separate outfield lab. The position is taught in a private lesson. Throwing Lab, Thursday at 5 PM, is there when the throw is the piece that needs a group session.
A first step the wrong way, or a throw before the feet are set, gives up a base even when the ball was catchable.

A ball in the gap is often lost on the route or the throw, not because the player cannot catch a routine fly.
They have to turn and chase. The read should have sent them back.
They settle before they have judged the flight, then adjust at the last second.
Charging a ball they should have kept in front turns a single into extra bases.
The ball comes in, and the throw leaves before they know the base.
Outfield training sits next to throwing, speed, and the other positions families book in Bellerose.
Throwing, speed, and glove work are all GT Labs. Memberships add lab days and private lessons for the position.
In the grass

The route is decided before they sprint. The lesson works on that read.

Parents and athletes on coaching and player development.
Coach Juan is an amazing coach. His way of building these kids up in the game of baseball is by far the best I've seen. His knowledge of the science of baseball is superb along with the other coaches of Grindtime Baseball Academy. As a parent I believe in him and my son does also. Thanks coach... #TRUSTDAPROCESS βΎβΎβΎ πͺπͺπͺ

Outfield training is in Bellerose. Outfielders come from Queens and Nassau County to work reads and routes that team shagging does not slow down for. The session can cover the first step, the path to the ball, and the throw back to the infield. Left, center, and right can all be part of that visit.
Brooklyn outfielders book the same private lessons. The coach stays with that outfielder for the hour. You name the miss, whether it is the read, the route, or the throw. The next visit starts from the change they took home.
Describe what happens on the ball in the air, then book.
